In the spirit of co-operation and working together Elke, Mike and David Earl marshalled at the St Austell Bay's Cornish Alpine Cycle Challenge on Sunday the 14th August,
The challenge have three routes ranging from 12 ,25 or 50 miles. The 25 and 50 mile routes take in the Clays and parts of it run through the clay mines, where people are not allowed because of active mining during the week, so quite a unique experience. The challenge is not a race although the fastest time recorded is just over four hours for the 50 miles. I am led to believe around 120 people took part.
Elke and I were a water station and the last marshelling point before the end at Blackpool Pit. The weather was overcast but fine and not too hot, so excellent for cycling. We had a very enjoyable time and were glad to help.
