13 July Club Meeting

We meet on Zoom with a guest speaker, Maria Mills from the Oasis Project which is President Simon's preferred charity for the year.
Maria explained the purpose of the Oasis Project and the challanges it faces particularly with refugee families and their calture. They have a need to teach women how to use laptops to enable them to teach their chilren. This presents a problem as in their calture they have a reasonability to educate the children but they are relunctant to intergrate particularly becasue of pressure from their husbands.
Oasis also runs a food bank which due to the pandemic has seen an increase of demands on them. Their 'pantry' needs re-organising to comply with social distancing currently rules. It has kitchen units for but these need to be replaced with better storeage so as to increase capacity and a better working environment.
