The match day collection held on 3rd Dec 2017 when the Cornish Pirates played Bedford Blues at the Mennaye Field realised the sum of £540-71 for Cornwall Blood Bikes ... and the Pirates ran out 24:17 winners!

The RC of Penzance are most grateful to the Cornish Pirates for facilitating the collection.

Cornwall Blood Bikes as a charity, supports NHS partners by delivering essential Whole Blood, Pathology Samples, Medication, Medical Equipment, Medical Notes and occasionally Donor Breast Milk to the NHS hospitals and hospices throughout Cornwall and beyond.

Speaking on behalf of Cornwall Blood Bikes, Jayne Penlerick said:

“We are a group of self-funding volunteers who rely entirely on the generosity of the community, with every penny collected going back into the charity. Last year the bikes covered 90,000 miles in Cornwall alone and completed 2,000 operational jobs, potentially saving the NHS more than £175,000.”

Jayne added:

“Having the opportunity to collect on a Cornish Pirates match day was greatly appreciated. The supporters were so generous, and our collectors, including helpers from The Rotary Club of Penzance, were all made most welcome.”
