Our club has a mix of men and women, working and retired, from a range of professions, businesses and community backgrounds.
New members bring new ideas and new skills to the club and help us to make small differences for those in need within our own community and in communities around the world.
So what do Rotarians do? - We utilise our skills, contacts and resources to devise initiatives that benefit communities. Our regular social meetings provide the opportunity to discuss local community needs and invite ideas for new projects or events. We work to combine the efforts of our members with the help of local people to tackle community needs here in Penwith and to support humanitarian efforts around the globe.
Collectively, as ordinary people, we can do extraordinary things.
Contact Club Secretary Des Hosking (07806 423840) and arrange to come along to one of our lunches.
New Friendships
In an increasingly complex world, Rotary maintains a simple philosophy - make friends in your own community and throughout the world.
Giving something back to the community
Through Rotary, service to local and overseas communities is well organised and rewarding. If you like helping others, here is your chance to do something worthwhile and make a real difference.
Fun and entertainment
Rotary is fun... a lot of fun. Every Rotary club and district arranges activities that provide a welcome distraction to a hectic business life.
Business development
Networking opportunities are endless. Rotary consists of a cross-section from every business community and its members come from all walks of life. Rotarians help each other and collectively help others.
Personal growth and development
Membership of Rotary develops leadership, public speaking, social, business, personal and vocational skills as well as improving cultural and community awareness.
Continued learning
Clubs organise weekly meetings to keep members informed about what is going on in the community, the country, and the world. Meetings provide an opportunity to listen to different speakers on a wide variety of current topics.
Travel opportunities
Every Rotarian is welcome - even encouraged - to attend any of the 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical regions where Rotary operates. Membership creates an instant friendship wherever you are in the world. Many a Rotarian in need of a local doctor, lawyer, hotel, dentist, or other expertise while travelling has found assistance through Rotary.
more During the Club Presidency of the late John Willday in 2005, a 'Welcome' stone was commissioned for beside the main road into Penzance. Following the death of John in 2017 the Rotary International Centenary stone was refurbished as a tribute to John.
back Our membership is made up of men and women many of whom are already involved in local community work in one form or another but who, through Rotary, are able pool skills and resources to achieve even more.
