The Challenge begins, the 2 mad Rotarians, John Mellor and Tim Cook have started their Jubilee Cornish Coastal Footpath Walk and what a way to start on the first day from Welcome Mouth for our walk to Bude. The weather was dreadful, blowing, raining and misty, also very muddy underfoot. Despite the dreadful weather we had marvelous views of the flora when we got into the valleys, but occasionally it cleared for short periods giving us views north to Hartland Lighthouse and south around the coast to Bude and beyond, then just as quickly the rain and wind came back and each time heavier and windier then before. We were not the only people walk the coastal path as we saw a number of fellow walkers including a group walking in aid of Cancer Research. How good it was to see our wives, Jenny and Liz, at Northcott Mouth with our lunch and it certainly picked our spirits up. We then head off into Bude and a wonderful reception from Bude Roatry Club at Bude Lifeboat station with reviving cups of tea along with cakes and biscuits. No sooner had we arrived and the rain stopped, the clouds cleared and the sun decide to come out, are well hope it will be out for day 2.
