The Challenge begins, the 2 mad Rotarians, John Mellor and Tim Cook have started their Jubilee Cornish Coastal Footpath Walk and what a way to start on the first day from Welcome Mouth for our walk to Bude. The weather was dreadful, blowing, raining and misty, also very muddy underfoot. Despite the dreadful weather we had marvelous views of the flora when we got into the valleys, but occasionally it cleared for short periods giving us views north to Hartland Lighthouse and south around the coast to Bude and beyond, then just as quickly the rain and wind came back and each time heavier and windier then before. We were not the only people walk the coastal path as we saw a number of fellow walkers including a group walking in aid of Cancer Research. How good it was to see our wives, Jenny and Liz, at Northcott Mouth with our lunch and it certainly picked our spirits up. We then head off into Bude and a wonderful reception from Bude Roatry Club at Bude Lifeboat station with reviving cups of tea along with cakes and biscuits. No sooner had we arrived and the rain stopped, the clouds cleared and the sun decide to come out, are well hope it will be out for day 2.  Yes for day 2 from Bude to Crackington Haven the sun shone and what a difference the sun made.  Liz, Jean and Jenny walked with us from Bude to Widemouth Bay and thanks to Hilary Finn for taking the ladies from Widemouth Bay back to Bude.  The sun not only helped us but the flowers seemed even brighter than the first day and the wildlife was cewrtainly enjoying themselves.  The views were amazing, to the North, Lundy Island and to the South, Trevose Head.  We arrived at Crackington Haven and paddled in the sea in celebration, could the weather last for day 3.  No, day 3 was wet, windy and misty and the climb from Crackington Haven onto to High Cliff seemed like de ja vue from day 1.  However once past High Cliff the weather cleared and and by the time we got to Boscastle for lunch it was at least fine, the climb in and out of Rocky Valley was one of the days highlights along with some very interesting rock strata.  By the time we finished at Tintagel the sun was out and tea and cakes was enjoyed in the sunshine.
