Peter Gornall joined us for our meeting on July 28th to update us on the project to eliminate Polio. This project became a goal of the Rotary Organisation many years ago and Peter made this one of his goals when he joined Rotary to ensure Kingsbridge was at the forefront in raising funds for this goal to be achieved, hopefully, within his time with Rotary. Regrettably this became impossible when he had to resign from Rotary some 20 years later; however, during this time Peter was the instigator in the club for raising many thousands of dollars towards the project during which time the club received a number of certificates from District 1175 for the amount raised by the club under his leadership.
At this time we are in the position of the virus being eliminated in many parts of the world and Afghanistan and Pakistan being the 2 main problem areas which remain infected by the virus.
For his efforts during these years the club has awarded Peter with, not only an honorary membership, but upgraded this to an Honorary membership for life.
Our picture is of our IPP Alan presenting a framed certificate recording this award to Peter.
