Reading Buddies

Our Rotary initiative to listen to youngsters read as it helps them increase their reading skills. Simple and Effective!

Improve our Childrens’ Future. Can you spare one hour a week, and listen to children read at Dartmouth Academy?

Every week during term time Dartmouth Rotary Club organise volunteers to help the younger pupils at Dartmouth Academy with their reading.  This is done on a one to one basis and the volunteers can see how much the children improve over the weeks.  Our volunteers find this very rewarding especially seeing the pupils who really struggle to finally get to the stage where they are reading.

We need volunteer “reading buddies” to help develop confidence and reading ability. Rotary has been supporting this successful initiative for years, and we are gradually expanding to community volunteers.

Help our children recover from damaging lockdowns, and hindered development. They deserve all our support.  This is a term-time weekly routine, and more information will follow.
