About us

Sandown Rotary club is now the second oldest club on the Island.

The club was formed following a meeting on March 11th 1926 at the Royal Pier Hotel, and was subsequently chartered on September 24th 1926.   The club then had 25 members, and was a good cross section of the businessmen of the town.
Since those early days the club has met at a number of different hotels & venues in Sandown, and more recently we met in Shanklin for some time.   However we are now back where we belong, meeting in Sandown at the Sandhill Hotel.
The club is of course now dual gender, and has had over recent years had 4 lady presidents.

Can I join and what is Rotary all about?  Rotary is an international organisation and wherever you travel you will be welcomed at any club meeting, and should you find yourself needing help then often a local Rotary club member will be be able to help you.

Rotary offers help both locally and Internationally to those in need, often in times of national or regional disaster.
The enjoyment from the fellowship at the clubs fortnightly meetings and the service you so freely give to help others who are often so much worse off than ourselves.
The range of Rotary friendship and connections around the world is endless, together with the opportunities to enjoy your time being a Rotarian.
Youth projects organising events on a regional & national levels that help to develop the students of today become better citizens for tomorrow.

If you would like to know more about Sandown Rotary and the enjoyment that we all get from being Rotarians,  if you know a Rotarian please feel free to ask them about it,  or contact the Hon secretary Tom Gifford - via email at:- tom@tomg2.plus.com
