About Downham Market Rotary

Downham Market Rotary is a friendly, community‑minded group of people who enjoy coming together to make a positive difference. Rooted in one of Norfolk’s oldest market towns, known for its historic clock tower, riverside heritage, and strong local spirit, we focus on practical support, fundraising, and hands‑on volunteering where it’s needed most.

We’re a vibrant mix of people of all ages and backgrounds, with 30 active members (6 women / 24 men) along with 4 honorary members, all bringing energy, ideas, and plenty of good humour. Helping others is at the heart of what we do, but we believe it should be enjoyable too. Our social calendar is full of meals, talks, outings, and events that build friendships and keep our club lively and welcoming.

Flexibility is one of our strengths. Life is busy, and personal circumstances always come first. Members give whatever time they can, whether that’s regular involvement, occasional volunteering, or supporting a specific project. Even if work makes attendance tricky, you’re still very welcome here.

We meet a couple of times a month at Ryston Park Golf Clubhouse on the A10, a relaxed, friendly venue that feels like home. Our guest speakers are always fascinating: Red Arrows pilots, charity leaders, historians, chefs, sportspeople, even a doll’s house builder. There’s always something new to discover.

Rotary is open to everyone. Forget the myths, you don’t need to be part of any “professional class,” and you don’t need to fit a particular mould or age group. If you’re friendly, curious, and community‑minded, you’ll fit right in. As part of Rotary International, we also connect with clubs across the region and around the world, strengthening both our local impact and our contribution to global causes.
