About us

Bookham & Horsley Rotary has been serving the community, both locally and internationally, since 1972.

Many people have heard of Rotary but don’t really understand who we are or what we do.  Rotary is a service organisation that brings together people who want to put something back into their community and to improve the lives of others.

Rotary is a great place to network, make new friends and to use your existing skills and gain new ones.  With over 1.2 million members worldwide (50,000 in the UK ) and 35,000 clubs (1,800 in the UK ), you are never far from a fellow member.

All the money we raise goes to good causes.  Nothing is taken out for the running of the club or our weekly meetings, these costs are covered by the members.  So, when you see us collecting for a particular disaster, running a car boot sale, collecting with Santa or putting on a concert/quiz, all proceeds will go to help someone else.

Some of this money is given in donations to organisations or individuals for a specific purpose.  Some is used to fund service activities and a list can be found under our Programme for the Year.

We review our programmes every year and members can propose new projects to support and we then vote on the final plan.

If you would like to join us there are many opportunities for you to do so.  You could become a volunteer, talk to us about a charity/organisation you are involved in, join as a member or support any of our events/projects.  Please use the Contact Us link to get in touch.
