Young People and Rotary

Its never too early to be part of Rotary, having fun and making a difference.

Young people are very aware of the issues facing our changing world.   Many of our young people are concerned about the future of our planet and our way of life and wish to be involved in protecting our world.

They bring a fresh perspective together with the motivation to influence and change.   The Rotary range of clubs for young people gives them a voice, a network of likeminded friends who together can be empowered to make a difference.   This not only benefits them, but provides huge benefits for our communities.

In the past year we have started a RotaKids club (7 – 12 year olds) in Midsomer Norton and an Interact Net Zero club (12 – 18 year olds) in Chew Valley, supported by their school and mentored by Rotarians.  In this age group there is concern about protecting the environment and we have seen these youngster learning to make their own decision and plan how they want to address the problems.

In the 18+ age group we have a Rotaract Club under formation in Chippenham.  These young people are concerned about their community and what young people want or need in their community.  Again mentored by Rotarians, they bring to the club their skills and experience reaching out to other youth groups and enabling them to be the change they want in their community.

Our communities need more of these clubs, find out how we are actively working to address this
