Young Writer

Everyone has a story to tell.

The Rotary Young Writer Competition allows entrants' imaginations to run wild!

This competition offers participants the opportunity to express themselves and get creative with the written word.

After being given a theme, participants can choose to write fiction or non-fiction, a story or a poem.

The Rotary Young Writer competition is run over the course of a school year, in three or four different heats; club level, district, regional* and culminating in the national final.

*some areas will not hold a regional heat

Deadline for District Final: 31st January 2024

Deadline for National Final: 30th April 2024

Age categories

The competition is open to students in full time education in three age groups:

• Junior                    7 – 10 years
• Intermediate        11 – 13 years
• Senior                   14 – 17 years
