Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)

What is RYLA?

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is a week long course

Promoting leadership skills through speakers on "leadership"

And activities - Sports, Competitions, Daily Challenges....

When is RYLA?

There are two sponsored camps through the Rotary Club of Leven

Female Camp:

6th July - 13th July 2013

Male Camp:

13th July - 20th July 2013

Where?

Abernethy Trust,

Nethybridge near Aviemore

How old should I be?

The programme is open to males and females residing in the Levenmouth area aged 15 to 17

(no older than 18 on the 6th July 2013)

How much will it cost?

The course is free. You will be sponsored by the Rotary Club of Leven.

You will only have to provide a small amount of spending money for the week.

What Activities are Offered?

Leadership speakers

(9am - 10am)

Daily physical activities

(10am - 5pm)

e.g. Canoeing, hill walking, mountain biking, raft building, rock climbing, gorge walking, orienteering, swimming and the Abernethy Challenge.

An intensive training programme for potential Leaders

A camp of 7 days run by Rotarians and Professional Trainers

You will have the opportunity to:

meet and work with others as a team.

(There are usually 64 candidates each week working in 8 teams.)

develop personal and inter-personal skills

have fun

meet new people

make friends for life

Improve your leadership skills

Express an interest to a member of The Rotary Club of Leven or through your school or organisation and complete a CV and covering letter about why you want to be considered for RYLA -

to be handed in by 8th February

If selected you will attend an interview at the end of February. (TBC)

The Interview will be conducted by members of the Rotary Club of Leven who will be sponsoring you.  Preparation is research into the camp and the work that rotary is involved with .

If selected you will be expected to visit the Rotary Club and give a talk after RYLA.
