A talk by Rotarians Ian and Margaret Trevette
Following their recent return from South Africa, Rotarians Ian and Margaret Trevette gave a talk on Tuesday 16th April to the 16 Rotarians and guests who had been dining at the Maesdu Golf Club that evening
As regular visitors to the Cape Town district, the couple have forged strong links with Sea Point Rotary Club, one of 12 Rotary Clubs in the Cape Town area
They outlined their work over the summer months (winter to us) in such ventures as
RPJ Helping Hands
Ian and Margaret have regularly helped this charity which has been feeding the homeless in Cape town since 2005, feeding up to 700 people on Sundays. Funding is from several Rotary Clubs and Llandudno Rotary has helped with this in the past
Cycle Fundraising
Ian stewarded for 8 hours in the Cape to Cape Rotary Cycling Event, which attracts 30,000 riders every year from all over the world and raises 5m Rand (£250k) most of which goes to fund education for children from the townships
Ellerton School
Ellerton Primary School is one of the projects that the Rotary Club of Llandudno has also been able to help, by funding an irrigation system for the school’s vegetable garden
Ilitha Pre-school
Founded in 1999 and supported by several Rotary Clubs since 2004 ( and our Llandudno Club since 2015) this pre-school has grown and prospered from the many schemes of development and expansion which between them now enable Ilitha to cater for 140 pupils
Rotary Blue Train Park
This facility is one of the famed attractions in the Cape Town Park, which serves as a great day out for children from townships throughout Cape Town. Llandudno Rotary recently worked in conjunction with Sea Point Rotary to fund a day out for 96 children aged 3 to 5 from Khayelitsha township
