CHRISTMAS SACKS 2023

Record Number being filled

Our 2024 Xmas Sack campaign is well underway with our Community Team looking to put together a record number of sacks circ 700.

We work very closely with local social services to identify those most in need of our support and today we received the following feedback from one of the teams we liaise with

" I have just received the email below from a social worker in one of our teams who took out the sacks you got her today to her family. I can honestly say that without people like you and your team then our jobs would be so much harder, and so much more sorrowful.

Thank you, not just for the donations you give for our families, but for the joy you put back into our work and lives by providing the means with which to give our families a Happy Christmas."

To those that support this initiative and make it happen it THANK YOU , it means the world to all of us at Harbour and more importantly to the those that benefit from your kindness.

Some feedback

Thanks so much for arranging the sacks. Some quotes from our families are as follows:

‘I did have a little cry when I received the sack. It meant so much to know that others are thinking of us and my son can wrap a present for me’

‘Thank you so much, we are so grateful to have this at Christmas and it’s a huge relief not to have to worry about Christmas dinner’.

‘This has absolutely made our Christmas. We can’t thank the rotary club enough. Things are so hard at the moment and I am so so grateful’

‘We can’t believe that people can be so kind. We were dreading Christmas after a really hard year and this has meant the world to us’

Thanks for this and, seeing all the messages of gratitude, I must apologise - I have been meaning to drop you a line about the Christmas presents you so kindly delivered before Christmas so, rather late in the day,:

On behalf of Sanctuary in Chichester, we wish to thank everyone at Rotary Club of Chichester Harbour for the Christmas presents for some of our refugee children and their families. Provision of presents for over 40 children, handbags for the mums and quilts was extremely generous. The presents were very well-chosen for the Afghan refugees and a couple of the asylum seeking families (not based at the hotel).  It was particularly thoughtful to provide batteries for the toys that needed them - there's nothing more frustrating than opening a present when you don't have the means to make it work! We wrapped the individual presents and collected them in bags for each family.  These were delivered a few days before Christmas and the children particularly were truly delighted to receive them. Thank you so much!
