DECEMBER IS DISEASE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT MONTH

Rotary is dedicated to fighting and preventing disease. Disease Prevention and Treatment is one of Rotary's Seven Area of Focus.

In the monthly District newsletter our District Governor focuses on this month's theme:

December marks DISEASE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT month in the Rotary calendar.

Sadly, over 400 million people around the world cannot afford or access basic healthcare, leading to pain, poverty, and misery for many. Children under five are at twice the risk of dying than those aged five to 24, which is why Rotary and its partners have been providing vaccines globally for four decades, to ensure that all children grow up free from preventable diseases.
Although Rotary's primary goal is to eradicate polio, it also has a significant role in the fight against other diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, and diabetes.
Prevention is critical, so Rotary members set up camps and training facilities and focus on health education, providing people with routine hearing, vision, and dental care.
