NOVEMBER IS ROTARY FOUNDATION MONTH

The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.

In November, Rotarians around the world celebrate our Rotary Foundation – the charitable arm of Rotary that provides funding for us to continue to impact lives in our communities.

The Rotary Foundation utilises your donations to initiate projects that make a difference in people's lives locally and globally. We leverage the resources of our worldwide network of Rotarians who contribute their time, money, and expertise to support our key priorities, including eradicating polio and  promoting peace. The Foundation provides grants that empower Rotarians to address challenges such as poverty, illiteracy and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that have a lasting impact.

This years District Foundation Evening was organized by Altrincham Rotary in November and was well-organised and attended by around 85 people, providing excellent fellowship opportunities.

The first speaker was Shreyas Pradham, an International scholar from Japan who spoke about his work in Urban and Town Planning in Japan and his proposed research as an MSc student at the university of Manchester.

The second speaker of the evening was PDG Ian Priestly, who gave an excellent overview of Rotary Cadre. These are Technically skilled groups of Rotarians who volunteer to use their professional skills and technical expertise in Rotary’s seven areas of focus to advise Rotarians who are planning and working on Rotary Foundation grant projects.
Cadre comprises over 700 members from 75 countries who speak more than 80 languages? Awards were provided to several clubs, and there was a raffle draw for the Foundation.
