Pupils enjoying an ice cream at the Wingate Centre

The Rotary Club of Nantwich has funded pupils (from 6 to 10yrs old) from the Nantwich Primary Academy to spend two days and one night at The Wingate Centre, near Nantwich.

The site comprises a 23-bedroom specialised accommodation facility and a fully-fitted gymnasium. Visiting schools can choose from gym-based recreation, dance & drama, team challenges, art & crafts, PSHE disability awareness or outdoor activities. This residential stay at The Wingate Centre allows the children to take part in activities they may not otherwise experience, and where they can build on their strengths and help overcome difficulties in a secure and purpose-built environment.

Recently apart from using the facilities Wingate provide, the children also helped feed calves, look after a miniature pony and were given rides on a steam engine especially for the occasion. They also enjoyed a free ice cream (courtesy of Cheshire Farm Ice Cream).
