WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY 23/24

The following plan has been agreed at assembly to involve and support our local community..

Community Programme for 2023-2024

Our club via the Community Committee will endeavour to engage with and support our local community in the following ways.

1.We will have a presence at both the Newton Community Centre Summer Fair on the 29 July and at the Newton Town Show on 5 August. There will be our coconut shy and we will have materials and members showcasing what Rotary does both locally and internationally.

2.There will be a Pop-Up-Bar on Newton High Street at the “High Street Hive” on 30 September selling Craft Ales. At this event we both make money for the causes we support and engage with the local business community and population.

3.The Community Committee will spearhead a Club Project Group for our annual Christmas Collections throughout the month of December. There will be both static events and of course the traditional street collections. During the planning stages there will need to be a team to help refurbish the float. The Christmas collections will utilise our connections to community groups to both help with the project and foster mutual support.

4.There will be a Presentation evening in January to thank all our Community Partners for there generous help in the run up to Christmas.

5. In April we plan to arrange our annual Senior Citizen's Concert  with stage acts from Blackpool.

6. During May/June next year we plan to arrange a Beer Festival incorporating a Sunday Family day, which was an innovation this year and proved highly successful. It was opened by Andy Burnham Metro Mayor of Manchester.

7. Support and help for local organisations including Newton Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society(NADOS) Starlites and Newton Boys and Girls Club to name but a few will continue a pace over the next 12 months.

On behalf of the Community Committee I recommend this programme to club.
