Hill School

.

The picture above is a photo of students and Rotarians from the competition we held last Friday at Daventry Hill School.  The students had been selected from their year groups to present to Rotary.  The photo shows the students with their certificates after the competition.    Below is the email we received from Stacey Drake (Careers Leader) which I would also like to share with you.

“This week across the school we have been celebrating Neurodiversity Week. Today to round it off we saw some students presenting to our friends from the Rotary club about their personal stories and their neuro diverse role models. Big well done to Stanley from Miller, Mia from Pearsons, Jack from Simmonds, Lucy from Ingram, Sarah and Enya from post 16. Our judges were blown away, and there was lots of Goosebumps and teary moments. Standing up and speaking in this format is daunting for many adults, but they all shown great courage and determination today. Big thank you to George S to for the technical support. All of our winners received a cash prize sponsored by the rotary club. Our overall winner was Sarah, who presented about Stephen Hawking and shared her incredible story of strength -Huge well done to everyone involved.”

Virginia, Nigel and I listened to the presentations, which each of the students had prepared and delivered. Their role models included Muhammad Ali, Stephen Hawking and Billy Eilish. Their role models were champions of a number of neurological conditions including Parkinsons, Dyslexia, ADHD and Synesthesia.  As always we were very impressed with what we heard and saw, and in some cases extremely moved.  It is a great delight and privilege to arrange these type of Youth events, and we have a great relationship with the wonderfully motivated staff and students at Daventry Hill School.
