Dave Clarke spoke to members about the TV industry

Dave Clarke

Long gone are the days  when the whole family sat down at 7pm  to watch   “It’s a Knockout “ or the “ Morecambe and Wise show”  to be followed  by the 9 O’clock News   all in black and white 405 lines with a choice of just BBC or ITV. To help us make sense of this new world of entertainment, Rotarian John Clarke’s son David, a TV executive for the last 20 years, gave us a very interesting, insightful and Zoom enabled look into his world of work. Amongst many other things we learned that just one episode of a TV drama can cost as much to make as many of us earn in a lifetime. Operators such as Netflix and Amazon can now give us all the entertainment we could possibly want any time, any place, anywhere and on our tablet, smartphone, lap-top or home computer.

David is, like his Dad, an Honours History graduate from Manchester University and has worked his way up the TV Industry from a humble Advertising Salesman to Executive Vice President of a global entertainment conglomerate.
