20th June: Rotary Walk Report

Six intrepid Rotarians gathered in the Navigation Inn in Stoke Bruerne car park with an uncertain weather forecast, under the eagle eye of Neil.

Although we have previously had walks from Stoke Bruerne, this was a new one to all of us . As we made our way towards Shutlanger around some very large fields with fantastic 360 views there was a definite lack of any sign of habitation.  It is unusual to be able to see so far without any buildings or other signs of life.

We eventually reached the small hamlet of Shutlanger, where there were definite signs of life, although we sadly bypassed the Plough.  Onwards we went until we arrived at the bridge photo opportunity where, as can be seen, it wasn’t easy to fit everyone in. Peter gamely knelt down so that we could see more than his chest but we were concerned that he might not make it up again.  Fortunately he did and we continued on to the pub, where he was presented with the walker of the month trophy.
