Lunch time meeting - Our speaker is Cllr Derek Noble

On Thursday 7th Feb 2019 President Anne Sampson welcomed 10 Cub Rotarians and Raimondo Valente from the Rotary Club of Leven, his wife Sheila and our guest speaker Derek Noble to our weekly lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes. 

On reception, this week were Wilna Roger who said grace and Geoff Sampson.

7 apologies for absence were received

Brain Johnson advised that he had given a talk to the Glenrothes Probus club on his trip to India for the end Polio campaign.

Wilna Roger advised that the Young Photographer competition had been judged on Wednesday 6th February and the Young Musician competition would take place at Auchmuty High School on Thursday 7th February 2019 and would be judged by Jennifer and Erik Knussen.

Our speaker this week was Derek Noble  now a local councillor but was previously a Former TSM,Sigs Sgt at HMS Forces Army and now  an Army Reserve Volunteer. Derek Studied NC Photographics course at Stevenson College Edinburgh and put this to good use when he was asked to take pictures in 2007- 2008 in Helmand Provence. Derek brought along a considerable number of pictures taken during his time in Afghanistan.

This coming week on Thursday 14th February 2019 will be an evening meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet 5.15pm for starting at 5.30pm. This is the first of our early evening meetings with three new members being inducted into the club.

The Young Musician competition took place at Auchmuty High School on Thursday 7th February 2019 with 9 pupils (2 Instrumentalists and 7 Vocalists) entertaining Rotarian's, relatives, teaching staff and friends in what was a wonderful display of musical talent. The winner of the Instrumentalist section being Sam Duzinkewycz from Auchmuty High School and the vocalist winner Kirsten Fraser from Glenwood High School.
