Club Meeting

Tue, Apr 30th 2019 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

President Mike Jane welcomed thirteen other members, and the club stood as Gordon Burgess paid tribute to Ian King who died last week.

Gordon, who proposed Ian for membership, said that Ian died at Shandon Care Home at the age of 78 after a long cruel battle against dementia. He was one of the club’s most inspirational and enthusiastic members in the 1970s and 80s. He joined in August 1969, was president in 1981-82, and resigned in July 1995.

He is survived by his wife Gracie. Funeral details are not yet known.

The president reported on a very enjoyable trip to Alicante from Wednesday to Sunday, with the weather, food and hotel accommodation for the party of nine all excellent.

One of the highlights was a gourmet walking tour, and Mike said that Alicante was a very beautiful city with a lot of history. Thanks were expressed to Derek Hall and Alastair Wilson for their work in organising the trip.

The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Alastair Wilson.
