Club Meeting — Dianne Richardson

Tue, Nov 27th 2018 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Dianne Richardson of Argyll and Bute Council spoke about homelessness in the Helensburgh area, and Bill Jones proposed the vote of thanks.

President Mike Jane welcomed 14 other members and the guest speaker, Dianne Richardson of Argyll and Bute Council. He also reported that on Friday he had represented the club at the 90th Charter Dinner of Paisley Rotary Club.

Reay Mackay reminded members that the local round of the Rotary Young Musician of the Year competition would be held in Lomond School tomorrow at 6.30 for 7pm. He invited members and spouses to attend, but asked that they contact him in advance.

Dianne Richardson, who has worked in the field for six years, detailed what she described as "a hidden homelessness problem in the Helensburgh area", and said that there were currently 65 active homelessness cases locally.

She discussed the help available to deal with a problem which can affect anyone, and said that the Council worked closely with the Argyll and Clyde Housing Association and Dunbritton Homes to find rented accommodation. Bill Jones proposed the vote of thanks.

The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Ron Dunachie.
