Club Meeting — Presidential Handover

Tue, Jul 3rd 2018 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Mike Jane was installed as president, with Douglas Dow becoming senior vice-president.

Outgoing president Gordon Burgess welcomed twelve other members to the first meeting of the new rotary year, and made a presentation on behalf of the club to the catering staff of the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club in recognition of their excellent and friendly service during his year in office.

Board members expressed their thanks to him for organising a splendid Board Dinner in the Upper Crust Restaurant in West Clyde Street the previous Tuesday evening.

In his final comments Gordon thanked members and officebearers for their support during a busy year, in which funds were raised, a number of cheques were presented to local charities, and a series of youth activities organised. "As a club we can hold our heads high," he said.

"It has been an honour to be your president for the past year. Thanks for your kindness and understanding."

He presented the chain of office to incoming president Mike Jane, who presented him with a past president's jewel and badge. The new senior vice-president is Douglas Dow, and junior vice-president Derek Hall.

The monthly raffle, this time for a bottle of 12 year-old Balvennie Single Malt Whisky from Dufftown in Morayshire, was won by Ron Dunachie, and the weekly raffle for a whisky miniature by Douglas Dow.
