Lunch Time meeting - Council Reports

On Thursday 17th May President Lindsay Roy welcomed 17 Rotarians to the lunchtime meeting at Gilvenbank Hotel.

On reception were Peter May and Roy Francey who said grace.

7 apologies for absence were received.

This week’s meeting was for Council Reports where Council chairs gave an update on their ongoing projects.

President Lindsay Roy advised that he had attended the 60thAnniversary dinner of the Inner Wheel which was a good night, but sadly due to reducing numbers they will be holding their last meeting on Monday 21stMay 2018.

The President also put forward to the club members and these were accepted in Principal the possibility of a Technology project with the schools, also a meeting will be held to discuss the possibility of us moving to a dispersed leadership Council rather than working with Council Chairs and thus spreading the workload amongst the members.

Senior Vice President Anne Sampson thanked Murray Grubb and local retired photographer Mike Ward for the two cameras and the mounted stands to be presented to the Young Photographers of the Year in the two categories.

Anne also mentioned that the Cantamus concert held at St Columbas church last Friday night was a great success and enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Rev Alan Kimmett and some of his congregation for the use of the church and their help on the evening.

Community Chair Wilna Roger mentioned that the only events now to go ahead were the Awards evening and Kids Out Day with Lead Rotarian Will Wishart mentioning that 94 children and 60 carers will be attending.

Foundation Chair Brian Johnson mentioned that he had attended the District assembly with Iain Oates and that they had heard of 3 projects, one in particular he thought he would like the club to get involved with. He had already contacted the other Rotary Clubs for further information.

The next meeting to be held will again be a lunch time meeting on the 24th May 2018 Please note this will be at Pinkertons Function Suite where members will be given a talk by Rhona Findlay from Link Community Development International (Link). Based in Edinburgh, who are a charity that envisages a world where every child in sub-Saharan Africa has access to a quality basic education.

Please meet 12.45pm for starting at 12.55 pm. On reception will be Peter May and Andy Strachan who will say grace.
