Lunch Time meeting - Council Reports

On Thursday 15th March 2018 in the absence of President Lindsay Roy, SVP Anne Sampson took the chair as she welcomed 20 Rotarians to our lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

On reception was Peter May with Archie Lawrie saying grace.

Six apologies for absence were received.

There was no speaker this week as this meeting was for Council reports with Council Chairs updating members on their ongoing projects.

SVP Anne Sampson gave her own report and Presidents report in the absence of President Lindsay Roy and Community report in the absence of Community Chair Wilna Roger. Harry and Megan poetry, Young Photographer judging and Pipe Band cheque presentation on 12th April. Will Wishart gave an update on the next major event being that of Kids Out to be held again at the Deer Park outside Cupar on 13th June 2018.

IPP Brian Johnson Foundation chair spoke about Books for Ghana and the recent swimarathon fundraiser.

Iain Haywood once again mentioned the Sportsman’s dinner to be held on 23rd March 2018.

Peter May gave a Vocational Report in the absence of Murray Grubb commenting on Mock Interviews, RYLA interviews, 2 pupils from Auchmuty HS and 3 from Glenwood HS and lastly Job Interviews.

Jim Boyd mentioned that the "Top of the Form" High School Quiz took place at Auchmuty High School last Wednesday evening with 6 teams from all over Fife participating. Our 3 local Glenrothes High schools, plus Waid, Levenmouth, St Andrews, the eventual winners were Waid Academy with Levenmouth runners up after a tie break The Trophy was presented to the Waid team represented by Hannah Coburn, Sam Cresswell, Daisy Penn-Ripley and Daniel Hesk by Auchmuty High Rector Alan Pithie. Well done to organiser Jim Boyd and the other 7 Rotarians who turned up to support this successful annual event. Many thanks to Auchmuty High School once again for hosting the event.    

The next meeting will be on the 22nd March 2018 to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. Please meet 12.45pm for starting at 12.55pm, the Speaker this week will be Hugh Hall Principal of Fife College.
