Lunch Time meeting - Council Reports

On Thursday 15th February 2018 President Lindsay Roy welcomed 19 Rotarians to our lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

On reception was Peter May, with Chris Grist saying grace.

Four apologies for absence were received.

President Lindsay thanked Archie Lawrie again for pulling together the framework for the 60 years of Rotary and our achievements. He also mentioned the Auchmuty intergenerational mentoring on 22nd Feb 2018 and The Rotary Health check. The shoebox collection delivery date to Perth had been brought forward and will take place on 2nd March and the Tree planting will take place at Auchmuty and Glenrothes high schools.

Geoff Sampson mentioned that he had spoken with the family of Ian Chalmers regarding a proposed Annual Burns competition for Primary Schools and with the proceeds from his funeral collection the money given will go towards a trophy in his name. The first year will go to Collydean Primary who recited Burns poems last week. Burns poetry were favourites of Ian and his Dad and this was thought to be a fitting memory of Ian.

Anne Sampson mentioned The Rotary Club of Buckhaven and Methil were holding an Abba Night on 20th April 2018, tickets costing £5 each. the proposed Quiz night on 26th April, the Cantamus concert on 12th May, the Club Assembly date of 14th June 2018 also the forthcoming community events the Young Artist on 21st Feb. Speakers from Coors Tek had been confirmed for 1st March.

Iain Haywood once again mentioned the Sportsman’s dinner to be held on 23rd March 2018.

Murray Grubb mentioned the Primary School Quiz which takes place at Auchmuty High school on 22nd Feb commencing 7pm. Mock Interviews were also mentioned.

Brian Johnson mentioned that 3 teams from Auchmuty and Glenwood High Schools were supporting the club in the Swimarathon. He also spoke about the Foodbank. Ian Oates has mentioned a Water Aid Project.

The next meeting will be on the 22nd February 2018 to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. Please meet 12.45pm for starting at 12.55pm, our speaker will be Dan Imrie speaking about the Glenrothes Aeromodelling Club with the Rotary Vote of thanks being given by Anne Sampson.
