On Thursday 16th November 2017 President Lindsay Roy welcomed 21 Club Rotarians, to this lunch time meeting which was held at Gilvenbank Hotel Glenrothes. 

On reception this week were Will Wishart who said Grace and Peter May.

Two apologies for absence were received.

As this meeting was for Council reports there were no speakers today,

SVP Anne Sampson advised members that next week 23rdNovember 2017 there will be a visit to Lindores Abbey Distillery in Newburgh. On the 30th will be a Themed Scottish evening meeting with entertainment from the Strathspey Fiddlers and schools. On the 21stDecember Rev Alistair MacLeod has agreed to give the Christmas message.

Jim Boyd’s mentioned that the fun “Autumn” photographic competition for the members was £1 per entry,

Tracy Thomson advised that the Christmas collection of Shoeboxes were being taken up to Perth this afternoon by Will Wishart and Jim Boyd for onward transmission to Eastern Europe.

Vocational Chair Murray Grubb mentioned that the Primary School Quiz entries were progressing well and that a lot of interest had been shown with the RYLA camp for next year with 12 applications already having been received.

Community Chair Wilna Roger advised that the Peace Walk which was held last Thursday 16th had been a great success attended by pupils and Rectors from all High schools, Church leaders and Politicians at the War Memorial for the service which commenced at 7pm. Wilna also mentioned that the usually successful Young Chef competition has had to be cancelled locally due to staffing problems in all the High Schools. Wilna spoke about the 7 members of the Glenrothes High School Interact club who have been very busy, having raised £613 from a camping expedition for street children and collections for the Foodbank. Wilna also mentioned that the Fife Association of Rotary Clubs will be collecting Children’s books which will be getting sent to Ghana.

Chris Grist mentioned on behalf of Foundation Chair Brian Johnson that Crocus Corms had been getting planted by the schools and that she will be arranging to collect the Jam Jars from Arbroath.

Andy Strachan advised that an event “Go Glenrothes” was being held at the Rothes Halls on Saturday 25th November from 12noon to 4pm. Community Groups will be setting up at the Rothes Halls to show what they get up to, and you can have your say on how we, as a town community, celebrate 70 years of Glenrothes together to find out what is going on in your town and have your say on its future. This week’s meeting on Thursday 23rd November 2017 will be a Lunch time meeting with the meeting being held at the Lindores Abbey Distillery in Newburgh where we will be getting shown around the Distillery after a soup and sandwiches lunch. please meet 12.45pm for starting at 12.55pm on reception, will be Ewen MacDonald and Peter May. The Rotary Vote of thanks will be given by Walter Fletcher.
