Fife Council talking about the Fife Charities

Club members please log in for more information.

On Thursday 7th December 2017 in the absence of President Lindsay Roy the meeting was chaired by Immediate Past President Brian Johnson who welcomed 17 Rotarians to lunch at Gilvenbank Hotel. Guests included Kathrine Robertson, wife of Rotarian Malcolm and speakers Kelly Dewar and Donald Jenks from Fife Council.

Jim Boyd reminded members that the Photography competition would be judged at next week’s meeting.

Our speakers today represented the Fife Charities Trust    The Trust is solely made up of Fife Council employees who are invited to participate in a monthly lottery, the proceeds of which are evenly divided between prize money and donations to local charities which have applied for funding.     The trust donates small amounts   - £100 upwards-  to organisations which would derive the most benefit from having a little bit extra cash.  The trust does not support individuals, nor does it contribute to the basic running costs of a group.  It does however contribute funds towards uniforms, equipment, sportswear, musical Instruments, outings and so on for playgroups, pipe bands, gymnastics club and theatre groups to name but a few.   In the past month alone 18 applications were received while on an annual basis the total funds donated might amount to around £70,000. The board members are always looking out for different local groups to assist and a full explanation of how the trust operates can be found on its Facebook page or on the website.

The Rotary vote of thanks was given by Wilna Roger.

This week’s meeting on Thursday 14th December 2017 will be for the clubs Special General Meeting.

Please meet 12.45pm for starting at 12.55pm. On reception will be Brian Johnson and Peter May
