Lunch time meeting with District Governor Graeme Archibald

On Thursday 21st September President Lindsay Roy was back in the chair as he welcomed 17 Club Rotarians, District Governor Graeme Archibald and his wife Carol, Assistant District Governor and President of the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy Raith Heather Stuart and Past District Governor Rotarian John Clark from the Rotary Club of Leven to this lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes. 

Five apologies for absence were received

President Lindsay Roy asked and was given approval by the membership to give Financial support to Glenrothes Rugby Club’s under 14 team.

A cheque for £450 was being sent to Rotary GB&I to support the purchase of a Shelter Box to be sent to the areas worst affected by the recent hurricane as part of the Rotary International disaster relief response.

SVP Anne Sampson advised that arrangements had been made to meet with Pippa Johnson of Aberlour Trust on 4th October at 4,30pm to view the facility in Glenrothes and present her with a cheque, being proceeds of our Desert Islands Discs evening.

Community Chair Wilna Roger advised that she had been at a meeting with the 3 High School deputes at which the Foundation Crocuses, End Polio Now and Mock interviews were discussed. A meeting was to be held at the High Schools to firm up on the dates and plans for all the projects the High schools were involved with.

Ewen Mcdonald had attended a meeting at the Dean Park Hotel chaired by Assistant District Governor and President of the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy Raith Heather Stuart where reps from all the clubs in the Zone discussed their plans on how they were trying to improve Club membership.

Today’s meeting heard Graeme Archibald, District 1010 Governor. 2017/18 give an inspirational talk to the members. Graeme supported by his wife Carol are travelling around District 1010 and so far, have visited 40 clubs out of the 80 in District bringing the Rotary message to the members. Heather Stuart, President of Kirkcaldy Raith and assistant District Governor was also present. Our club SVP Anne Sampson (Rotary Rag Editor) on behalf of the club was presented with the Mounted Wheel by Graeme Archibald being commended by District 1010 for the best club bulletin in District

This week’s meeting on Thursday 28th September 2017 will change to an evening meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet 06.15pm for starting at 06.30pm on reception, will be Edgar Shields and Peter May. Our speaker for the evening will be Jan Kerr from the Homelands Trust which is an independent, Fife-based charity working to improve the quality of life of individuals affected by disability through the provision of luxury holiday accommodation.
