Lunch time meeting with Speaker Susan Budd Community Support Officer

Leuchars Station -RAF to Army


On Thursday 31st August 2017 President Lindsay Roy welcomed 18 Club Rotarians, guest Rotarian John Clark from the Rotary Club of Leven and speaker Susan Budd to this lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes. 

Five apologies for absence were received.

On reception, this week were Ron Page who said grace and Murray Grubb.

President Lindsay Roy spoke about the successful Desert Islands Discs themed evening and thanked Malcolm Robertson for doing a great job in compering the evening and SVP Anne Sampson and Wilna Roger for pulling the event together. He also spoke of the Aberlour trust, the memorial bench and speaking about the Council meeting this forthcoming Monday when a decision should be made on our nominated charity for this year.

Jim Boyd brought back greetings from the President of the Rotary club of Kirkcaldy whom he had visited last week.

Tracy Thomson brought back greetings from Bill Moodie, past District Governor whom she had met at a Youth 1st meeting,

Our speaker this week was Susan Budd, Community Support Officer for the UK Army based at Leuchars as she gave us an update on her role and the transition from Airforce to Army being based there. She spoke about how she was endeavouring to engage the community by organising various events at  Leuchars such as a bonfire night, Carol concert and Leuchars Station Open Day The area was decimated during the transition previously having 1400 associated with the air force down to 800 with the Army, predominantly male and under 25.

The Rotary Vote of thanks was given by Jim Boyd.

This week’s meeting on Thursday 7th September 2017 will be a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet 12.45pm for starting at 12.55pm on reception, will be Archie Lawrie and Peter May, our speakers this week will be our RYLA representatives Ally Kinnear and Jack Thomson who will feed back to the club on their experiences at the RYLA camps back in July
