Club Meeting - No speaker

Tue, Mar 14th 2017 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

President Bill Jones welcomed 14 other members, and with member Adam Muggoch led a discussion on the costs and merits of Rotary GB&I. It was felt that not enough reorganisation had taken place, and cost-cutting had not been sufficiently ruthless.

The conclusion was that the club would be happy to see Rotary GB&I abolished, but that it was unlikely that this would ever happen.

Bill reported on members responses to the survey on the future of the club and possible amalgamation with the Garelochside club, with the most popular choice to continue with Tuesday lunches. He, vice-president Gordon Burgess, and junior vice-president Mike Jane would meet after lunch to discuss the matter further.

International convener Douglas Dow said that arrangements were in place for the Bridge Night at the Rugby Club on Friday, but he would welcome more bottles of wine as raffle prizes. These can be delivered to the Stirling & Gilmour office in West Princes Street.

The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by the president.
