The walk takes just two hours.  Starting  north of Brixworth,  then cross country as far as Grange Farm at which point we turn and retrace our steps with constant views across the reservoir.  The going is mostly grass, but there are a number of styles which Ann easily managed.

Walk Report

A stalwart group of walkers, including the President and wife Elizabeth, met at the Coach and Horses Brixworth on yet again a delightful sunny morning.

We headed out from the pub car park along the old Market Harborough road to the bypass RAB, with our leader Peter Davies giving a running commentary of the various factories and business units.  On reaching the new Mercedes complex he digressed into being a quiz master on the subject of Mercedes racing history and the number of starts, pole positions and wins they had achieved over the years.  We all failed and pressed on to the Tip.

Having circumvented the Brixworth Recycling Centre, we headed out across the fields towards the spectacular  view of Pitsford Reservoir, which opened up as we approached nearer to this vast expanse of water.   The older Northamptonian Rotary members recalled to both Brian and Elizabeth the building of the reservoir in 1954, and the flooded farm under the middle of the water.

The strain of the styles and gates took its toll, and two of our members set off back along the Holcot road with the rest continuing nearly to the reservoir cycle way, before returning  to Brixworth, weaving our way through the new housing and back ways to end back at the pub, to be joined by Anne and Val for a very pleasant lunch and convivial company.

As it was Brian and Elizabeth`s first walk outing, the walk mascot was presented  to Elizabeth for her valiant  effort on her dodgy knee.  May the exercise have not done any harm.
