Alysia Cameron-Price (Sue Ryder)

Many of our members have memories, over the decades, of our previous contacts and assistance with activities at Leckhampton Court, in addition to our recent magnificent and well deserved donation. However, Alysia provided us with a most detailed and inspiring presentation from the foundation, by Sue Ryder, to the present day where they now have, across the UK, 7 hospices and 5 care centres providing “incredible hospice and neurological care to patients, residents and their families”. They provide 2.7 million hours of care each year, treating more conditions than any other UK charity. There are over 1,100 doctors and nurses involved, along with 2,700 volunteers.

Leckhampton Court is a 16 bed hospice and, as we know, is in a tranquil and calm setting which compliments the specialist palliative and “end of life” care and support provided to people with “life limiting conditions”. Many of us have been particularly aware of this through friends or relatives and our previous involvements at Leckhampton.

60% of Sue Ryder funding comes from “supporters” and it was, coincidentally, gratifying on this day for many of us to have received emails detailing the value of our recent individual contributions, of “previously enjoyed” goods to the Sue Ryder shops.
