Community : League of Friends Fete

Sat, Jun 4th 2016 at 7:00 am - 5:00 pm

We support the setup and running of the Fete.

As you will probably be aware, the Community Service Committee kindly agreed to put the League of Friends Summer Fete into our Community Service programme again this year. This involves providing man-power to assist the LoF run their Fete on the day.

The Fete will be held in the Victoria Recreation Ground in Tilehurst. The event usually attracts a large crowd and is one of the main fund raising activities held by the LoF outside the hospital. There is a very nice atmosphere and, although we can be quite busy, nobody is expected to work flat out and so there is plenty of opportunity to have a look around and enjoy the Pig Roast for lunch.

As before, the League of Friends would greatly appreciate some assistance on the day of the Fete. Briefly their needs are:

  • 2 people to arrive at 7.00 am to receive and direct the stall holders to their pitches
  • 2 or 3 people to arrive at 8.00 am to assist in setting up the site, help put up gazebos etc
  •  In shifts, as many as possible to man the pedestrian gates from 10.30 am to about 4.00 pm
  • In shifts, 1 or 2 people to man the vehicle gate starting at 10.30 until about 4.00 pm
  • 2 people from 4.00 pm for about 1 ½ hours to dismantle the site and clear up
All you need to do is indicate between what times you are available and if you have any particular preference. If you would like to come for the day that would be great but if you can only spare a couple of hours that will be great too!

Wives / husbands / partners / offspring all welcome to join in and the extra pairs of hands would be very much appreciated. Please indicate on the board if your other half will join you.
