QUEENSFERRY ROTARY GIVES £500 TO PROSTATE SCOTLAND

Adam Gaines, from Prostate Scotland was the speaker at the Rotary Club of South Queensferry on Thursday 2nd June. The charity was set up to provide information, advice and help on prostate health. Nearly half the men in Scotland will be affected by prostate disease at some stage in their lives and one-in-eleven are likely to develop prostate cancer. In his thought-provoking talk, Adam described what men should look out for, the process of self-testing and how to seek help. It is encouraging that survival rates have improved significantly over the last 10 years. Those wishing more information should go to prostatescotland.org.uk

In presenting a cheque for £500, President Kate Gibb said that virtually every family in Scotland knew someone who had suffered prostate problems. Several members of the club had also been affected. She was delighted the club had chosen to donate to such a deserving cause.
