Annual Rotary SWIMATHON involving 33 teams all sponsored to raise money for good causes

Abergavenny Rotary Club held its annual Swimathon today.

It was a successful day with 30 teams taking part. Twelve primary School teams, from Cantref, Deri View, Llanfoist, LLantilio Pertholey and Gilwern, - with Gilwern School Piranhas winning the Primary School Shield swimming 150 Lengths. There were also 6 sports Club Teams including - Abergavenny Town under 16 football, Abergavenny Petanque Club, Monmouthshire Golf Club, Abergavenny Tennis Club, Abergavenny Masters Swimming Club, Y-Fenni Triathlon Club.

Other Teams made up from, Abergavenny Cubs and Scouts, Abergavenny A.T.C., Melvin Centre Working Group, Abergavenny Lip Reading Group, Abergavenny Boro' Band, St John, A.A.O.D.S,
Anthony Davies, Abergavenny Rotary Rascals and King Henry VIII Comprehensive School - Who retained the Senior Shield swimming 171 lengths. Many thanks to all who took part and the Rotarians that supported the event. Whilst final figures are not yet in, we are hopeful the event will raise around £4000 for Rotary and local good causes.

The Annual Steam Rally returned on 3rd and 4th June 2022 after a break of three years due to lockdown. The Rally is the main source of funds for the Rotary Club to donate to worthy causes via it's Charity the Abergavenny Rotary CIO.
