Speaker Kevin Morley - Saltergate Children's Home

Kevin Morley told us of his new charity Saltergate Children's Home in Ethiopia ------- Speaker finder Alan Morrell, Visitors Host Grace and Banners John Barrow, Cash Desk Graham Robinson

Kevin Morley in Eritrea

Kevin gave brief details of his background and then explained how he had met with David Wright in Eritrea when he was working in that area of the world. Like David Kevin married a lady in Eritrea but she was an Ethiopian and as such was badly treated in Eritrea and they had eventually come back to live in the UK.

When back in the UK Kevin went to work at Chesterfield College. He set up a second hand book stall there with profits being sent to David Wright through the Tigre Trust.

He has recently set up a small house in Ethiopia to foster children from other homes who are too full to deal with them. The house costs £40 per month to rent in Addis Ababa and is run by an ex-maid of his wife's  family.

However, recently a "foundling" baby was left on their doorstep so now the home is becoming a permanent home for that child. Kevin is looking to move the unit into a bigger house that would cost £70 a month and wants to find a sponsor to donate £30 per month for the next 7 years. He has spoken to the Bishop of Derby about this and was also speaking to us to see whether we could help.

Kevin has recently written a book about his time in Eritrea with all profits going to the Saltergate Children's Home. For details see: -
