President's Handover

Barry Buttenshaw will hand over the chain of office to Pindi Tamana as the incoming President of the club for 2016/7.

It is at this time of year that Rotary clubs change their management teams and our club is no exception.
Today's meeting opened with an introduction by Club President Barry Buttenshaw and ended with the chain of office being passed to Perminder (Pindi) Tamana as the new President for 2016/17.
Pindi has served as Club President twice before and so follows Barry in holding the office for three terms.
In his address to club members, Pindi praised Barry's hard work and dedication over the past year and then outlined his plans for the coming year. We will continue to strive to support many of the charities we have helped in previous years. Diabetes UK has a particular resonance with Pindi as does Mary's Meals, Kids for Kids and StreetInvest but the list of charities needing help is endless and members were reminded that there is much work to be done. He also reminded the club that the fight to eradicate polio is nearly won but a final push is necessary before we can relax our efforts.
President Pindi then went on to induct Roger Swain to serve as President in 2018/19.
We were honoured to be joined by Twickenham MP, Dr Tania Mathias for the early part of the meeting before she had to leave for duties in the House Of Commons.
The new Rotary year begins but in Pindi's words it is still pretty much "business as usual"!
