Young Inventors competition at Llantwit Major School

The annual Llantwit Major Rotary Club Young Inventors competition was held at Llantwit Major Comprehensive School on Monday 18th May. The competition pieces formed part of the competitors’ A-level submissions in Product Design and spanned a wide range of areas. First prize and the Ledley Engineering shield went to Hugo Billington with his highly innovative design for modular affordable housing using 20 feet and 40 feet standard shipping containers. Second place was awarded to Helen Barker who had designed and constructed a substantial outdoor bench. The bench will eventually be sited by the beach at Llantwit Major, so everybody will be able to appreciate and take advantage of her work. There were 2 joint third places awarded, one going to Sean Matthews for his portable artist's workbench and the other to Connor Clarke for his low cost modular student furniture concept.
