Past President Steve Butler opened the meeting on Tuesday by welcoming the members and their guests. He then asked P.P. Michael Pearce to introduce the speaker for the evening Joan Rakhar from North Wales Parrot Rescue which is a non profit rescue based in Craig y Don Llandudno
Joan brought a macaw and a cockatoo with her and went on to describe the behaviour patterns of these birds, in particular their relationship to humans.
Cockatoos are very affectionate but demand a great deal of attention. They own the owner and are capable of very painful bites. Intently curious they are very jealous and extremely territorial.Macaws present less problems and neurotic behaviour. Their ability to focus enables them to alter their behaviour within a relatively short period. However they can also be very noisy.
Michael Pearce gave the vote of thanks
