The club members and several guests listened to Eileen talk about her time in the Top Secret "Filter Room" which analysed the signals from the early RADAR and enabled the plotting of incoming enemy aircraft during WWII.
Eileen also spoke about some of her other experiences as a WAAF during the war. The members were priveleged to hear first hand about this work and everyone agreed it had been an outstanding talk.
World War II veteran Eileen Younghusband BEM spoke to the Frome Selwood Rotary Club about her work in the Fighter Command Filter Room sending up RAF fighters to meet the German planes. Eileen was 18years old when the war started and she joined the WAAF. Immediately her abilities were recognised and she was trained for this special work.
