Tim joined as director of the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) in September 2012. Prior to joining the Institute, Tim was the Programme Director of the Tea Leaf Trust, an educational development charity working to develop social entrepreneurship and mobilise communities in the tea estates of Sri Lanka. Tim founded the charity with his wife after visiting the area on their honeymoon in 2007 and it now engages over 4,000 community members annually, including 1,500 children at 24 locations. During his time in Sri Lanka, Tim completed an MSc in Poverty Reduction and Development Management receiving the Chamber of Commerce Student Award.
Before his stint in Asia, Tim was Advice and Guidance Manager at NOVA new opportunities in West London where he established a successful advice and guidance unit for the long-term unemployed, refugees, asylum seekers, lone parents and other vulnerable groups.
