This was followed by Alan Staddon who gave an illustrated talk on Bubble or Micro Cars which as ever was informative and fascinating – he used to drive one to work in Kings Cross from Chelmsford every day and clocked up 50,000 miles in a car with a 174cc engine! His Bond car with the 197cc Mark C didn’t generate sufficient power for 2 headlamps so Mary had to operate a torch on night-time journeys.
