Kids Out – presentation to RCBB 31st March 2016
Rotarian Gordon Moulds from Leighton Buzzard Rotary Club and Chairman of Kids Out gave an inspiring talk to Club. He reminded us that Kids Out is a Rotary Charity that is now 25 years old and helping more and more children every year.
After fading a little out of the focus of Rotary Clubs for a few years it is (Gordon is) now working hard to re-establish its profile and with considerable success. More and More Rotary Clubs are now supporting the charity which is not just offering days out once a year to disadvantaged children but also supporting the children of mothers seeking the shelter of Womens’ Aid Refuges. The children when identified are given days out and if moved to foster parents or new locations given toyboxes and other support.
Kids Out believe that it is the memories that Days Out etc give that sustain these disadvantaged children and as a result want to organise, through Rotary Clubs, a second Day Out= every year the second being early in December.
Gordon emphasised that he is not looking for money but rather for our time. Money would also be useful though!
The kidsout.org.uk website provides much more information and is worth a visit.
