Welcome to the Maesteg Rotary Club
Hi everyone and welcome to the home page of the Maesteg Rotary Club
The picture below was taken at our recent 70th anniversary of the opening of our Club. It was a special occasion so don’t be put off by the bow ties.
Our Moto is: Service above Self
The Rotary organisation is made up of three Branches: Our Rotary Clubs, Rotary International, and The Rotary Foundation. Together, we work to make lasting change in our communities and around the world.
The Rotary Foundation - helps fund our humanitarian activities, from local service projects to global initiatives.
Rotary International - supports Rotary clubs worldwide by coordinating global programs and initiatives.
Rotary Clubs - unite dedicated people to exchange ideas, build relationships, and take action.
As a Rotary Club, what do we do with the monies we collect in the name of Rotary?
Make donation to local charities such as;
a. The Scouts organisation
b. The local "Food-bank"
c. The Local Girl Guides
Facilitate Rotary "Kids out", a day out for disadvantaged children, normally to Gower Heritage Centre
Sponsor Students for Leadership Courses for Students aged 15-17, Rotary Youth Leadership Association (RYLA)
Give access to National Level skills competitions in Cookery, Music, Debating and others.
Distribute Rotary Shoeboxes to local schools and Churches and collect when full of useful items, and dispatch them to the children of Eastern Europe and other destinations.
The Annual "Rotary Firework Display" We are trying to be the best Display in the Area
We also give donations to Rotary Foundation for disasters like: Shelter Boxes (Emergency shelters) Clean Water Projects: Individual Water Straws and Water Filters for families and the eradication of Polio.
All the above was achieved in one year with only 10 members! Just think what we could do with more members just like you?
