Welcome Message from the President

President's End of Year Letter

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

As we approach the close of the year, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all members and supporters  of the Rotary Club of the City and Shoreditch  for your continued support and engagement throughout what has been a busy, stimulating, and rewarding year.

Your consistent attendance and active participation in our speaker dinners and fellowship events have been central to the vibrancy of the Club. Over the past year, we have been privileged to host an exceptionally wide-ranging programme of speakers and discussions, covering topics as diverse as artificial intelligence, Europe and the evolving world order, smart money, Buddhism, Palestine, immigration, dementia, Aristotle, Kazakhstan, architecture, and the realities of surviving the NHS. The breadth and quality of these discussions reflect the intellectual curiosity and openness that define our Club.

Beyond our speaker programme, we have also taken pride in supporting Global Scholars from Belgium and South Korea, continuing our commitment to international understanding. We remain sponsors of the Rotaract Club of Queen Mary University of London (shortly to be recognised by Rotary International) , strengthening our links with the next generation of Rotarians. This year also saw us win a debating competition with the Rotary Club of Mayfair (thank you Armin)  and volunteer with the Felix Project, demonstrating our commitment to service and community engagement.

We were delighted to award Paul Harris Fellowship membership to Annamaria Minicozzi (for outstanding service in the NHS) and Saroj Chabbra (for outstanding contribution to Rotary Foundation) and to welcome several new members into the Club, including Alberto Bragho, Brunello Rosa, and Roberto de Febo.

Taken together, these achievements make it clear that it has indeed been quite a year. None of this would have been possible without the enthusiasm, generosity, and commitment of our members and supporters. Thank you all for the part you have played in the continued success of the Club.

On behalf of the Club Council , I wish you and your families a serene and peaceful Christmas. I very much look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year

Domenic

The Rotary Club of The City & Shoreditch was formed in 1933. For more than 90 years our members have supported many worthy causes through voluntary service. Our membership is made up of Rotarians from a variety of professions and different nationalities, which gives the Rotary Club of The City & Shoreditch a truly international membership profile.

Our Club continues to support Rotary International's quest to eradicate polio throughout the world by raising funds and donating to this cause. Our Rotarians express their 'Service Above Self' (the Rotary motto) in a range of activities in the local and wider communities,in the workplace and throughout the world.

Developed over many decades, we have created deep bonds with our partner clubs in Lodi/Italy, St. Raphael/France and Leipzig-Bruehl in Germany. Each club in turn is hosting an annual get together and we are supporting each other's international charity projects.

We normally meet every other Tuesday in the City of London over dinner. If you are interested, please join our group of fellow Rotarians who are welcoming you to work together for the good in the world. We would love to hear from you.

Yours in Rotary
Domenic Pini
