About us

The Rotary Club of Wansbeck was founded over 20 years ago as the first evening club in the area.  The Club meets on Monday evenings for a meal, fellowship, an occasional speaker and to discuss club projects.  Our club is small, fun and effective. We support a number of projects, both local and international which have worthwhile charitable objectives.

The Club is always keen to welcome potential new members. Typically, membership is drawn from those working in or residents of Blyth Valley, Morpeth and Wansbeck areas. However, it is important to note that there are no longer any geographical barriers to membership and anyone is free to join the Rotary Club of his or her choice (by invitation)  irrespective of where that person lives or works.

Latest Club activiies :

The Club recently held a Geordie Night at Newbiggin Golf Club which was a great success and helped us boost our funds to enable us to aid local charities, examples of which are:

Donation to Cambois Rowing Club to assist with boat repairs.

A donation to help a young boy from Newbiggin with the purchase of a specialised tricycle to aid his mobility.

A donation to a student from Ellington to assist him in achieving his target so he can participate in the Madagascar World Challenge in July.

The annual Youth Club Raffle draw took place on Monday 30th October 2017 at 7.30pm in the Newbiggin Golf Club, Prospect Place, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.  The draw raises money for youth clubs throughout the local area.  This year £4,880 was raised for the clubs that took part.

There are some 58,000 Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland in 1,845 clubs, helping those in need and working towards world understanding and peace. It's a fulfilling role, and Rotarians can get involved as much or as little as their time will allow.
